We are NOT medical professionals but since we spend so much time getting it in, here are three common sense things to do in order to help make sure that your next smoke session is done as safely as possible. SAFETY FIRST!
Here is the StickMen Top 3 Anti-Corona thoughts below
1. The Lounge Greeting
The common understanding is that we refrain from shaking hands. This is really hard to do when you genuinely enjoy the company of your PSC partner, but it’s worth it to take heed. The handshake is one of the easiest ways to transmit a disease from person to person. Pound it up or elbow it up but don’t shake.
2. The Cutter
My fellow StickMen, I love you BUT the common practice of sharing a cutter is about as routine as it gets but in this new world, get your own please. A plastic double blade guillotine cutter or v-cutter costs about $3 on average. Even if you are an occasional smoker…. make sure you have your own! Believe it or not some folks have a habit of licking the back of their cigar prior to cutting it (yeah, go figure) and you know what? I don’t do it but to each his own… but you damn sure can’t use my cutter!
3. The Torch
So if we aren’t going to shake hands, I probably shouldn’t pick up that lighter that you just used either. Maybe this is overkill, but if you didn’t just spray the lighter down with lysol (doubt it!) before handing it to me, how do I know its germ free? We all know this Corona is a robust SOB! Go find yourself a nice lil torch and pick up a can of butane.
Bottom line… Having your own tools is the sign of a good StickMan and swapping out the handshake for a fist bump or elbow tap will help minimize the spread and keep us PSC’ing together. I have a feeling we’ll need it over the next few weeks.
